Eat Right During Covid
As per the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) given by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) for Indians, 0.8 to 1 gm protein per kg body weight per day is sufficient to meet the basic nutritional requirements. Every meal 1/4th of the plate is filled with protein.
Recently, the Government of India suggested the inclusion of Poultry and Eggs amongst other food products to build immunity:
– As per the Guidance Document FSSAI (Page 31 onwards)
Poultry:
- Source of Proteins which play a role in body’s healing & recovery
- Source of vitamin B12 which helps gut microbiota, T cell production, immunomodulator, intestinal immune regulation
- Source of Zinc & Selenium , helps reduce oxidative stress altering host response to vital infections
Eggs:
- Source of vitamin A which protects by keeping skin & tissues in the mouth/ stomach/ intestines & respiratory system healthy
- Source of vitamin B12 which helps gut microbiota, T cell production, immunomodulator, intestinal immune regulation
- Source of Zinc & Selenium , helps reduce oxidative stress altering host response to vital infections
